All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.
Over the course of my MLIS program at the University of Arizona, I have interned for Marvel Entertainment, the University of Arizona Southwest Environmental Health Sciences Center, and the University of Arizona iVoices media lab. Through those experiences I have learned how much I love to take on a role helping with research and instructing information literacy. I aim to work in an academic or media archive to ensure that materials are preserved correctly, and that those who need the information are able to have access.
This portfolio contains a collection of work I have done over the course of my MLIS program (artifacts) as well as a collection of spec scripts and sketches for the writing side of my future goals. This portfolio serves as a collection of works I am most proud of.
I learned I loved to write all the way back in fourth-grade when I wrote a retelling of “The Emperor’s New Clothes.” Since then I have taken diverse writing courses from high school through university (including poetry, fiction, non-fiction, journalism, playwriting, and screenwriting), and spent lunch periods during high school swapping and editing short stories with friends. I even wrote the Christmas pageant and had it performed!
A fan of shows like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Arrested Development, and books ranging from Avalon: Web of Magic (Rachel Roberts) to Where’d You Go Bernadette (Maria Semple), and even manga and comic books (One Piece ((Echiiro Oda)) being an all-time favorite, only outmatched by Saiyuki ((Kazuya Minekura))), I enjoy stories for all ages. My favorite kind? Any story based off of a true story, legend, or fairy tale. In fact, my script Monsoon is based off of the Finnish folktale The Forest Bride. My favorite folktales? “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” “Rumpelstiltskin,” and “The Fool of the World and the Flying Ship.”
