The first act of Monsoon

Sitting down to view a Disney movie, an audience already has a clear idea about what the film will entail. This creative project explores those expectations and incorporates them into a full length Disney princess-style screenplay. Adapted from a folktale, the screenplay Monsoon has been written with Disney trends and criticisms in mind. Following the current Disney trend of “good” queens (Elinor, Brave; Elsa, Frozen) as well as borrowing from the modernization in The Princess and the Frog, Monsoon stars a Rodeo Queen in the Southwest as she fights to save her father’s life from a bitter enemy.
